Lightning Strikes

Lightning strikes refer to the natural electrical discharge that occurs during a thunderstorm, characterized by a sudden release of electrical energy in the atmosphere. This phenomenon typically occurs when the negative charge within a cloud builds up sufficiently and creates a potential difference with a positively charged region, either within the cloud, in the air, or on the ground. When the electric field strength exceeds the insulating capacity of the air, a lightning strike occurs, resulting in a bright flash of light, a loud thunderclap, and an intense heat discharge that can cause damage to structures, landscapes, and can even pose a risk to life. Lightning strikes are often associated with severe weather conditions and can vary in frequency and intensity based on geographical location and atmospheric conditions.
