Football

Football, known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, typically by using any part of the body except the arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception, as they can use their hands within the penalty area).

The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Football is one of the most popular sports in the world, with millions of players and fans, and is played at both amateur and professional levels.

Competitions range from local leagues to international tournaments, with the FIFA World Cup being the most prestigious international event. The sport promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness, making it a widely celebrated pastime across diverse cultures.
